Overview

About Orthopaedics, Joint Replacement & Spine

Our Orthopaedics team specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of conditions affecting bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons. Using advanced imaging, minimally invasive techniques and evidence-based rehabilitation, we focus on relieving pain, restoring mobility and helping you return to the activities you love — as safely and quickly as possible.

We offer the full range of outpatient, day-care and inpatient orthopaedic care, including joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, spine surgery and regenerative therapies such as PRP, GFC and stem-cell treatments.

  • Arthritis (knee, hip, shoulder)
  • Fractures & dislocations
  • Sports injuries
  • Spine problems & back pain
  • Avascular necrosis (AVN)
  • Diabetic foot

Treatments & procedures

Evidence-based procedures performed by our team.

  • Total knee replacement

Replaces damaged knee-joint surfaces with prosthetic components to improve pain and function in selected patients.

  • Total hip replacement

Replaces the damaged ball-and-socket surfaces of the hip with prosthetic components.

  • Total shoulder replacement

Replaces damaged shoulder-joint surfaces while preserving the normal ball-and-socket arrangement.

  • Total elbow replacement

Replaces damaged elbow-joint surfaces with linked or unlinked prosthetic components.

  • Reverse shoulder replacement

Reverses the shoulder ball-and-socket arrangement to improve function when the rotator cuff cannot support a standard replacement.

  • Hemiarthroplasty

Replaces one side of a damaged joint, commonly the femoral head after selected hip fractures.

  • Open or closed fracture reduction with internal fixation

Realigns a fracture and stabilises it with implants such as plates, screws, nails or wires.

  • Arthrodesis (joint fusion)

Joins the bones of a painful or unstable joint so they heal as one stable unit.

  • Hand and foot trauma or soft-tissue surgery

Repairs selected bone, tendon, ligament, nerve or soft-tissue injuries of the hand or foot.

  • Arthroscopic knee surgery

Uses keyhole instruments for selected procedures such as ACL reconstruction or meniscus repair.

  • Arthroscopic shoulder surgery

Uses keyhole instruments for selected procedures such as rotator-cuff or Bankart repair.

  • Cervical and lumbar spine surgery

Includes selected discectomy, decompression, fusion, pedicle-screw fixation, vertebroplasty and trauma procedures.

  • Amputation

Removes a non-viable or severely damaged limb or part of a limb when preservation is not possible.

  • Diabetic-foot surgery

Treats selected infected, ulcerated or deformed tissue to control disease and preserve as much function as possible.

  • Bone grafting

Places bone or a bone substitute to support healing, fill a defect or assist fusion.

  • Sports-injury surgery

Repairs selected ligament, tendon, cartilage or bone injuries after specialist assessment.

  • Core decompression for avascular necrosis

Removes a core of damaged bone to reduce pressure and may be combined with grafting or cell-based treatment.

  • Accident and trauma fracture surgery

Stabilises fractures and associated injuries after trauma, based on the location and severity of damage.
